Akh’tamar Dance Ensemble of the Armenian American Support and Educational Center -- HYE DOON of NJ
The ties that bind us as Armenians date back well over 2000 years! Maintaining those bonds and transmitting them to the younger generations is a major challenge for all Armenians in the Diaspora.
The Akh'tamar Dance Ensemble of the Armenian American Support and Educational Center -- HYE DOON of NJ was founded by a group of parents. They are visionaries who are dedicated to the sole task that their children, the children of the Armenian Nation, maintain their heritage in this melting pot country, the United States of America.
To balance the outside pressures and influences among our youth, we must show them that a way of life distinctive to the Armenian home, can flourish in harmony with good citizenship.
Under the umbrella of the dance group, our members have formed a unique bond as friends that will hopefully carry them through their formative years.
The Akh'tamar Dance Ensemble is a group of over 80 beautiful, young Armenian girls and boys between the ages of 6 and 25, who over the past fourteen years have raised their dance skills to new heights. The Ensemble is divided into two age groups: the younger children range from age 6 through 11, and the older dancers range from age 12 to 25. They dedicate hours of rehearsal time, under the tutelage of their director/choreographer, Sylva Asadourian, to ensure a spectacular presence at every performance.
The Ensemble is excited to continually present new programs to the NY/NJ community.
As long as there continues to be more youth who possess this pride and desire, the character and spirit of the Armenian people will continue to live.
Thank you all for supporting Akh'tamar Dance Ensemble.
